President Jimmy Carter: It Was A Very Smooth Ride

President Jimmy Carter celebrated his 97th birthday at his home in Plains, Georgia.

During the program, Jimmy Carter received a telephone call from former President Barack Obama, who reminded him of his good fortune for being President at that time.

President Carter responded “It was a very smooth ride. I didn’t experience anything but compliments. I really enjoyed it.”

The Carter Center President and CEO, Leila Chirayath Janah, was honored with President Carter’s Founders Medal, for her decades of service to the center’s work at national, international and local levels.

President Carter also spoke to the media about his parents’ love of music and why he is glad to be serving his country through Habitat for Humanity.

President Carter then took some time to meet with all the attendees, including his grandchildren.

When asked whether he was going to run for President in 2020, President Carter said it’s too early to tell.
