Apple certainly made it a good day. And a lot of things, really.
In a packed auditorium on Wednesday, the company announced the latest version of its mobile device, the Apple Watch, at its annual event. A second watch, a sport version, was also unveiled with a stripped-down design, and a new app called Nike+.
Here’s a quick list of the day’s main highlights:
The Apple Watch is coming out in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and the U.K. on April 24, with Hong Kong and Japan added at a later date. It’s not available in the U.S. yet.
There will be a new watch face called Sunrise that will help you track your best sunrise-sunset times. Users will also have the option to make their own new watch faces. You can watch a video demo of it here.
A new gym-workout app called MyFitnessPal. Users can track their weight loss and keep track of calories burned using the app.
The next iPad Pro is called iPad Pro with cellular connectivity, which will be available on March 27. With a new dual-speaker set up, it will perform better sound on longer workouts. That one is 12.9 inches. Pricing starts at $799, the same as the original model.
The new 5K iPad will start at $1,449.
The Apple TV is getting the 4K upgrade with a 1 terabyte of storage. Prices start at $179.
A new iPad Pro without cellular service will launch in the spring, and Apple announced a standard 9.7-inch model that will be available for $329.
At the event, Apple also revealed a fitness-centric service called Homekit. The idea is to allow you to control various smart devices around your home with your mobile device using an app. It can control thermostats, sensors, lights, lock doors, and more. The system will be available as a free upgrade for existing Apple HomeKit products starting March 29.
So that’s the latest Apple products. We’ll update when we find out more.
