Here are the three new versions of Apple Inc.’s smartphone and tablet at its annual developers conference in San Francisco:
The new iPhone 4s is roughly the same size as its predecessor, but it has updated processor and a built-in gyroscope. That could mean a better gaming experience and better navigation of the device, including multi-finger swiping.
The iPhone 5c is 5 percent smaller than the iPhone 5 but has a new plastic back and a more colorful finish. The dual-core processor should let apps run faster, and the company is also promising better battery life.
If you want to buy one of the new iPhones, you’ll have to wait until September. The iPhone 5s will go on sale in the third quarter.
The new iPad Air is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, with faster processors and the ability to use 4G LTE networks. That means it should get faster downloads and higher speeds. It also has a fingerprint reader that lets you unlock the device.
Apple said the iPad Air will go on sale in stores on Friday, and said prices would range from $499 to $899. The previous iPad mini was updated, but Apple didn’t announce a price.
