Tampa Bay Police said Monday that an alleged Florida serial killer was found covered in blood and had tied the victim to a tree with a rope, the New York Post reported.
Stanley Benton, 43, turned himself in after a body of a woman believed to be his was found abandoned near the intersection of 14th Avenue N and 16th Street in St. Petersburg.
Police said they found a man’s body and identified him as Sara Benton, also 43, whose family said she didn’t live there.

Meanwhile, Stephen Estinard, a family friend who knew Benton, said he had to be restrained by police and had a “large butcher knife on him.”
Estinard told the Tampa Bay Times that Sara’s next-door neighbor saw Stanley from inside the neighbor’s home Saturday night and told her that Stanley was searching her garage and yard.
Sara Benton’s cousin, Kathy Wilcox, said when Stanley was taken into custody, he confessed to the killing of Sara last summer. Wilcox said police found a bloody trail leading from the victim’s mailbox to her house.
